Self-Defense

For that I'm not actually (very) good at this part but have an interest towards it.

For that 'self-defense' is a kind of a countermeasure that involves defending oneself, one's property, or the well-being of another from harm. Ways of self-defense may include martial arts or using a weapon.

Self-defense is not just about the safety of an individual, but also a country as well, given the country is being attacked.

There are 2 kinds of self-defense:
  • Physical defense
  • Mental defense
Physical defense is the use of physical force to counter one's threat. This kind of defense usually either involving the use of physical weapons such as knives or guns (armed) or 'human weapon', usually associated with martial arts (usually known as 'unarmed', but some form of martial arts do have the use of physical weapons such as the 'Keris' in the Malaysian 'Silat' ).

And for that the physical weapons could be knives, firearms, or 'improvised weapons' (everyday object being modified and applied as weapons).

To attack the opponent's weak points

A gun (Most countries have the law prohibiting normal citizens from having it)

A dart can also become a weapon (throwing type)

An example of  'improvised weapon' (ball pen with a concealable blade)
For that the success depends not just on the use of weapons, but also the techniques used as well as the defender's physical and mental readiness.

While on the other hand, mental defense is more towards defending oneself 'against the influence of some kind of an ideology: to defend oneself from being influenced' (writer's definition). Though seem to be harmless (because the absence of threat in the physical form), it is probably more danger than the physical counterparts, for that it involves one's identity and ideology (and sometimes, religion), without considering who the victims are.

And the ways are a lot. And one of it is known as 'brainwash': the application of techniques used to change the values and beliefs, perceptions and judgments, and subsequent mindsets and behaviors of one or more people, for a reason.

And usually, mass media is the weapon for its easiness of accessibility .

Apart from brainwash, the physical surrounding also could give one some kind of  a 'provocation', a kind of a 'spark' which triggers one's mental state (which in the end, could drive the physical state) to react against one's own will.

Regardless physical condition, mental strength (or faith) is the defensive weapon for this type of defense (though sometimes physical weapon might be needed, given both defenses are needed at once).

And, as a Muslim, 'doa' (pray) is a kind of weapon, supporting the faith.

That's why there's a hadith by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) saying that, "Prayer is a weapon for the believers".
